A place of connection formed for me during the development of this unique project. The idea began with a virtual exchange between Canadian artists and culminated in a physical exchange of materials, called “swatches”. Paintings in this series incorporate “swatches” shared between eleven artists, located throughout the country. The “swatches” consisted of small sections of painted papers, maps, magazine clippings, and fabrics. Each member of the group received the same “swatches” distributed via snail mail. The Canadian Swatch Exchange series is my response to this challenge.
